Malinin became just the fifth man ever to break 300 total points in an international competition, joining former Olympic medalists Nathan Chen (gold), Yuzuru Hanyu (gold), Shoma Uno (silver) and Yuma Kagiyama (silver).
Today, Madison Chock and Evan Bates go for their fourth Skate America title and 15th consecutive win for a U.S. couple. The two had a scare during the Rhythm Dance when Chock fell but he was able to skate off on her own power and was then cleared to compete in future events, like today.
The schedule today features the Ice Dance, Free Dance and the Women’s Free Skate as the final two events to crown champions. This event will be another launching pad for every figure skater to build their resumes for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
